Thursday, Part 2

Today is not Friday in the world of a CPA. Instead, it's Thursday, Part 2. Somehow it makes me feel better to not get excited about today being Friday. Tomorrow is actually Friday to me and Saturday won't come back for eight more weeks. It's funny how little things make life seem so much better! Sort of like how 53 more days sounds so much better than 7.5 weeks.

We're almost six weeks into tax season with eight more Saturdays to go. I'm taking a few minutes from my precious lunch break to vent.

I'm so sleepy it isn't funny. For the second time in less than a week, I've fallen asleep with all the lights on in my bedroom and slept that way all night. Both times I still had my iPad in my lap when I woke up the next morning. My parents can attest to the fact that I do not sleep in one position all night, so this further clarifies just how tired I am.

I found this picture some time back and it's unfortunately quite apt. Making it through a tax season truly makes you a survivor.

I know it doesn't sound that bad to work until 9 at night, but when you work that late (or later) every day, it really starts to get old. It's not like I can go straight home to sleep. I still have dirty dishes from the three meals I eat at work each day, mountains of laundry and bills to pay.

I almost wish someone had shown me this video before I made this career choice--just kidding, I know there are rough times in every job. I am very grateful that we get 5 weeks of vacation to partially compensate us for the absurd hours we work from January - April.

Ok, lunch break is almost over. Time to get back to it and get some things off my desk!

Just so you know, my life is not completely work-centric. I do have a hair appointment tomorrow afternoon (about time!), so I'll have a little time to relax. My absolute favorite part about a hair appointment is the massage after my hair is washed. I'm so tense most of the time and it's absolutely wonderful to get some of the kinks worked out of my neck!
