The day of a CPA 20 days before a filing deadline...

I've got a scheduled post up about a recent trip to Target that will show up later tonight, but since I'm taking a five minute break from tax returns in between projects, I thought I'd give a quick idea of what my day has been like.

7AM - Wake up late. Yes, I got up, walked across the room and turned off my alarm TWICE before going back to bed. Scramble to shower and get ready for work.

8AM - Out the door. Not too bad considering how foggy my brain is. Talk to Mama while driving in.

8:30AM - Arrive at work. No the last person to arrive, so I don't feel bad.

8:30AM-12:30PM - Work on only my second individual tax return of busy season and make update a few things on my highest priority project. Wait for client responses to finish high priority project and start three more related projects.

12:30PM - Realize that everyone else in the office has eaten and that I should enjoy the beautiful day for a minute. Run out to eat junk food again. Talk to Mama.

1PM - Start back to work again. Make corrections to a project I turned in to the reviewer last week.

3PM - Update shared office calendar with my charge hours so far for the week and prepare my "task list"--projects I am responsible for over the next two weeks.

4PM - Scheduling meeting with my mentor. Chat about her upcoming wedding for much longer than we should.

5:30PM - Notice that some people have already left the building. Frustration increases.

8:15PM - Realize that half of the office has already left and I have yet to stop to eat dinner. Again run out to eat junk. No wonder I need to lose weight. Tell Mama goodnight. Reassure her that I will be careful driving home late at night.

9:30PM - Finish making corrections to the return I started working on at 1PM. Realize that it took much longer than it should have. Print returns and put on manager's desk. Write blog post.

That's my day so far. Lots of sitting at my desk, printing hundreds of pages while working in a "paperless" environment and eating junk food that makes me feel ick.

Unfortunately, I've promised myself that I will get at least one more thing done tonight. Since I'm going to Florence Saturday night, I need to get my hours up to make up for not working on Sunday. The security guard leaves at 10:30 and I'm not staying after that unless a man is still here. This office is creepy when you're here alone. I don't care if we're in a locked building behind locked gates--I'm not walking out to my car alone late at night in this part of town.

19 days and 2.5 hours...can't be over soon enough!!
