My latest motto is "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." This week has been rough and, unfortunately, it's only Tuesday. Seven more days until the end of busy season. Others might say the end is in sight, but it's really just a tiny little light about the size of the head of a pin way off in the distance. This is the point where it seems completely impossible that we still have 1,200 returns to complete. It's also the time of the season that we start getting "inspirational" emails from the managing partner of our department reminding us exactly how many returns we must complete an hour to get everything done on time. Really motivating, huh?
I know that, as of now, I have 17 returns left of my schedule to complete and I don't yet know how many extensions I will complete. It's ironic that people not in this job think we only do individual returns at this time of year. For me, this is not the case. Besides Grandaddy's return and my own return, I have only prepared 8 individual returns this year. Of my 17 outstanding returns, only 4 of those are individual returns. The rest of my work for the next seven days is for partnerships that coincidentally have the same filing deadline as individuals.
I can't wait to hit the road with my floppy hat, books and credit cards for a long weekend of eating, sleeping, reading, shopping and swimming! I've promised myself a Coach purse for my busy season reward and I'm going to get it at my very first opportunity! :)
